Acoustic 370 Repair

The Acoustic 370 is a legend in solid state amps. It puts out 300 watts and has an incredible tone. Most of them are found in studios where they drive huge speakers.

The owner said that this one had been to three techs that did not fix the amp. The last one wouldn't let him try it in the shop, and wanted more money to fix it again.

The amp needed a ton of work. The output transistors had failed and took a bunch of other parts in the process. That's the problem with these old designs. Newer amps have protection circuits, but they rob tone.

The amp needed some 20 parts (transistors, diodes, etc), plus the output cap can decided to call it quits.

The end result, however, was worth the effort to bring this little jem back to life.
