Side Effects

Sinus bradycardia, torsade de pointes, dizziness, vertigo, tiredness, fatigue, headache, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, epigastric pain, flatulence, sexual dysfunction, impotence, agranulocytosis, rash, pruritus, ocular irritation and discomfort, bronchospasm, dyspnea, cough, arthralgia.

Drug-Vitamin-Herb Interactions


Negative interactions:

Calcium
Calcium may form unabsorbable complex with atenolol. Take at a different time of day.

Coleus forskohlii
Coleus forskohlii relaxes blood vessels. Combining Coleus with beta-blockers may have unpredicatable effects on blood pressure.


Positive interactions:

Chromium
Beta-blockers reduce HDL. Chromium can offset the adverse effect.

Coenzyme Q10
Beta-blockers (especially propanolol) inhibit the actions of enzymes that contain CoQ10.
