Athlete«s foot (tinea pedis) is a contagious, microscopic fungal infection that lives on the dead tissue of the hair, toenails and outer layers of the skin. It thrives in a moist, warm and dark environment. Usually, athleteÕs foot affects the soles of the feet and the areas between the toes.
The infection is most commonly passed in public places like communal showers, saunas, locker rooms AND restrooms. The fungus is carried on fragments of skin or other particles that contaminate floors, mats, rugs, bed linens, clothes, shoes and other surfaces.
